We hear it all too frequently; "I'm at the end of my rope."

Couples voice it; "Let's just tie up as many loose ends as we can and call it quits." Parents jest about it, "Let's just tie her up until she gets through this boy crazy stage." (At times, Dads do possess a glimmer in their eye like, "That isn't an option... is it?") Singles siren a like refrain, “I don’t know why my mom keeps carping, ‘When are you two going to tie the knot?’ She seems to think my biological clock struck midnight and Prince Charming stopped dancing at 11:00 to watch Sports Center.”

Some seem frazzled, fraying at the end of their rope, hanging on for dear life. Some let go and fall to pieces. Some become so tied up in knots they sip Maalox for an after dinner drink. Some glare for so long their rope looks like a hangman's noose at high noon.

I’m persuaded that at the end of every rope, there is hope! Our hope is not based upon wishful thinking like some little engine that could. We anchor our hope to Jesus. As a result of placing our hope in Him, we discover a living hope, a fresh hope that is new every morning. Because His fresh hope is muscular, able to withstand every weight and pressure, we are able to live strong.
